Our recommendations to the Minister of Health were shaped by the many people who took the time to share their insights and experience with us. Public consultation on the Act and Code Review opened on 31 April 2024. We asked people to share their thoughts on how we could make the Act and the Code work better for everyone and on our suggestions for change. Consultation closed on 13 August 2024.
We received 259 submissions from individuals and organisations around the motu. We also met with hundreds of stakeholders throughout the review, engaging face-to-face where possible and online when not. We had a particular focus on hearing from those communities who face multiple barriers to raising their concerns, including Māori and tāngata whaikaha | disabled people.
You can read submissions we received below.
We are only publishing submissions where we have permission to do so. Some information has been withheld by request, and some has been withheld under the Official Information Act 1982 to protect the privacy of submitters and information which is subject to an obligation of confidence. Where possible, without identifying an individual or organisation who wishes to remain anonymous, the names of submitters are available for you to search by.
We wanted people to be able to share their thoughts in whichever way worked best for them. That means submissions will look different, depending on how they were sent in.
